Well, for a first post to this rambling and personal art blog, I decided to talk about my inspirations as an artist and a person. These are only going to be my current inspirations, as a full list of my inspirations would be ridiculously long.
Jason Chan, the man is a great concept/character artist, and understands the use of forms and value very well. He works for MassiveBlack and also does freelance work as well, painting covers for books.
Dan Dos Santos, mainly a illustrator, Dan Dos Santos currently does a lot of fantasy book covers in oils. Check out his work, your mind will tingle.
David Giraud, 3D character artist, his sculpts are very impressive to me, and help inspire me to create more of my own 3D work.(he also has a youtube channel with some time lapse sculpts)
Henrique Naspolini, another 3D character artist, he is one of the artists working on Primal Carnage. He sculpted some of the playable human characters and the T-Rex in the game.
Julianna Kolakis, a very talented artist, she does a lot of 2D/3D character art. Her demo real is very beautiful and awe inspiring.
(I also like going and looking at the Top Row at ZBrush Central for inspiration. Also, the Muddy Colors blog, which Dan Dos Santos is a part of, is run by some very talented artists working in the field and producing work, they post about their current projects and events, and also provide breakdowns for some of their pieces.)
John Carmack, the last remaining founder of Id Software still working at Id(fathers of the FPS), he is an exceptional game programer and engineer. He also is part of a civilian space flight group, Armadillo Aerospace.
CorridorDigital, Sam and Niko do some great film and vfx stuff, I just love going through and watching their videos over and over.
Freddie Wong, this guy just rocks. He does some very good short film work, appealing mainly to nerds (me) its probably not funny to some, but who cares if they don't like it, I do.
Like I said at the top, I could go on for pages listing my inspirations, so I'm gonna stop it here for now. One thing I would like to mention, my friends, fellow students, and my instructors at school are also a real source of inspiration for me.
Thanks for reading.
